SOFFIERIA DE CARLINI - Manufacture

		Our art The ancient art of glass-working belongs to mankind since many centuries, and its magic hands over from generation to generation together with tricks and secrets that every artisan jealously keeps. The technique used makes it possible to differentiate the working procedures in a considerable way, thus creating different "schools": the Christmas Ornament, with its light and fragile shapes, is one of them. The company "Soffieria De Carlini" manufactures decorations for Christmas Trees since 1947, and its art has not changed over the years. The item is blown individually, without the help of any mould: every ornament is a unique piece of art.		The empty tube that will give birth to the ornament is heated up to a temperature of about 800°C, and becomes incandescent and almost pasty. At this point the artisan's skill comes into play, wisely dosing blow and manual dexterity and modelling the shape at will. An important and peculiar feature of our working procedures is the creation of figurines with arms and legs, tail, hands and foot, obtained by soldering blown glass to the main body. This performance is the result of at least three-year experience in this particular field. At this point every item is spray or dip coloured before being decorated, in the most unbelievable details, exclusively by hand.		By using a brush, the decorator is able to accomplish sophisticated and delicate working, giving to every ornament the lightness and refinement that always characterize the products of the company "Soffieria De Carlini".
